Class Chassis - Channeler
The SRD cleric and druid classes have many similarities, which is unsurprising considering the druid’s origins as a subclass of cleric. Stripped down to their basics, both classes have an identical hit die, base attack bonus progression, saving throw progressions, and spells-per-day progression. It follows that each class could be built upon the same “chassis” given the right choices. Lets call this chassis class the “channeler”.
As an adept, the channeler is able to sense and manipulate divine energies. A cleric gains this ability through worship and supplication to a god or gods, while a druid swears oaths to the primal forces of nature. The cleric’s path grants domain spells, a divine aura, and the ability to turn or rebuke undead; while the druid’s path grants various natural affinities, supernatural abilities, and imbues their body with supernatural qualities. Both classes commune with divine powers and pray for their daily spells.
The channeler class chassis provides a stripped-down base upon which to build a cleric or druid. It also addresses some of the “overpowered” abilities of the standard druid by forcing her to choose between different “primal oaths”.
